Jam Jar Sweet Red 2012, Western Cape, South Africa This 100% Shiraz is a versatile food wine w/cherry pie & warm liner torte notes. Best served slightly chilled. Just polished off a bottle of this with the wife – what a fun wine. The name is perfect. The sweet is more of a honey sweet than a berry sweet. The sweet is not overpowering, but can be a bit unsettling during the first few sips.
Winemakers Notes: Crafted in a lighter style than your typical Shiraz, this fresh, fruity, semisweet wine displays aromas and flavors of ripe, juicy berries with dark chocolate undertones. Refreshing and approachable with the perfect balance between sweetness and acidity, it is a versatile food wine. Best served slightly chilled.
Tasting Notes: For us wine lovers with a sweet tooth it’s hard to find a nice red that is sweet, but not a dessert wine. This wine was a very pleasant discovery & I’ll be drinking it again soon for sure. Great price too!
