Monte Degli Angeli Pinot Noir 2010

From the superb region of Piedmont, this well-made Italian Pinot Noir has complex red fruit flavors with hints of vanilla, spices and purple flowers. The Monte degli Angeli (“Mount of Angels”) has a fresh fruit flavor, modest tannins and a nice long finish. Monte degli Angeli’s Pinot Noir is both international in its fruit-forward flavors and Italian in it’s weight and structure. This is Pinot with an Italian swagger. This is classic and fine especially for the price. It is made by two quality-driven brothers, Antonio and Paolo Sperone, who own and manage the Monte degli Angeli estate in Piedmont, and produce a very good Barolo. Serve this Pinot Noir with fresh tuna dishes, roasted chicken or lamb, or with simple pasta dishes or pizza, especially topped with shrimp and plum tomatoes.
