Visual Aspect: Ruby Red

Nose: On the nose there were generic red fruits, quite a pleasant bouquet but not hugely intense.

Palate: Rich and spicy, this red exudes black cherry, black currant & pepper flavors. It’s juicy & firmly structured, with a lingering tobacco & black tea finish.

Food Pairing: Lasagna

Winery Notes: 80% Sangiovese – 20% Merlot

Sangiovese grape varietal (known locally as Prugnolo gentile) (minimum 70%), blended with Canaiolo Nero (10%–20%) and small amounts of other local varieties such as Mammolo.

Winery: Poliziano was started in 1961 with an initial nucleus of 22 hectares. It has grown over the years to reach its present size of 120 hectares, all planted in vineyards. Its name is an homage to the humanist poet Angelo Ambrogini (1454-1494), known as “Il Poliziano”, who was born in Montepulciano.
